Calvin's Career Center's annual Employer Conference is a great opportunity for professional development. This year's event will feature the following:

Dr. Sarah Visser, Ph.D., VP for Student Life, Calvin College
Topic: Career Management - How to manage your own career and promote career management in those you supervise

Dr. Visser provides leadership of the Student Life division at Calvin College. Prior to joining Calvin in 2015, Sarah served as chair of the Department of Leadership and Organizational Psychology at Azusa Pacific University in California, where she taught both undergraduate and graduate students. She has spent the majority of her professional career working in the realm of student affairs, most recently as associate dean of campus life at Pomona College. She completed her doctoral studies in higher education at Claremont Graduate University, where her research focused on diversity and change, exploring how institutions build capacity in the area of diversity. She has a passion for engaging scholarship and praxis related to social justice issues, with specializations in gender studies, organizational culture, identity development, class-consciousness and white privilege.

Dr. Brian Cawley, Ph.D. Professor of Business, Calvin College
Topic: Employee Engagement and Retention

Dr. Cawley holds a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Akron and teaches Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, and Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Cawley has served as an internal and external human resource consultant to over 100 organizations in various industries, including financial, healthcare, retail, hospitality, technology, consumer products, transportation, higher education and public safety. Dr. Cawley's research has been presented at numerous national and international conferences and published in journals, including the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Business and Psychology. His current research interests include individual and organizational virtuousness, and leveraging business strategy, values, and vision in talent management processes and tools.

The cost is $110 for profit companies, $100 for non-profits.
