The importance of a multidisciplinary approach to human health through key insights that emerged from seven knee surgeries and three serious infections over the past 12 years.

In this presentation, which is intended for a broad audience, you’ll hear about Professor Dave Warners' journey with seven knee surgeries and three serious infections over the past 12 years. As Professor John Wertz has been helping Dave make sense of his microbial mishaps, key insights have emerged for these two biologists, including the importance of context when assessing microbes. This talk will highlight how vital microbes are to human health, the use and misuse of antibiotics, how hospitals have changed procedures to minimize disease spread, and the reciprocal relevance of microscopic and macroscopic ecosystems. This talk will also underscore the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to human health.
Speakers: John Wertz (the microbiologist) and Dave Warners (the ecologist)
