Join the students of CHEM295 and the members of the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department as we welcome guest speakers and Center Art Gallery featured artists, David Huang and David Barnhill, to present this week's topic in "ChemSem":

Guest Speakers: David Huang & David Barnhill

Title: The Design and Creation of Layered Resplendence #62 

Metalsmiths Huang and Barnhill explain the science of their craft tracing from start to finish the process of their collaborative work, focusing on "Layered Resplendence #62." The lecture will address a brief history of mokume, what mokume is, and the metallurgy of how mokume is made. The main body of the lecture details the design of Layered Resplendence #62 from the 1st stages, from thoughts, problem solving, and construction, to the last stage. Additionally, David Huang plans to discuss chemicals used for various patinas.
