A radical disconnect exists between the way Christians understand their intellectual aims and the way Christians are viewed by the larger secular culture. From pulpits to Christian radio, Christian leaders portray themselves as truth seekers. For leading intellectual commentators in academia and the news industry, however, Christians, have constructed a whole network of institutions that allow them to avoid being confronted with realities that science has uncovered. Christians are portrayed as science denialists, with their unwarranted science skepticism having negative effects on public health and the environment. How did we get to this situation where Christians are so mistrustful of science? And what can be done to overcome the mistrust?

Presenter: Josh Reeves, Samford University, Assistant Professor of Science and Religion and Director of the Samford Center for Science and Religion, author of Redeeming Expertise: Scientific Trust and the Future of the Church
