The US health care system remains under scrutiny. What have been the contributions and failures of the Affordable Care Act? How has the ACA affected local communities? What changes are being proposed, and why? What effects will they have?
About the panelists
Kristen Alford is assistant professor and director of the social work program. Her research interests include gerontology, chronic disease prevention and detection, health disparities and access to health care.
Mikael Pelz is assistant professor of political science and serves the public health and urban studies programs. He currently teaches courses in American politics and public administration.
Scott VanderLinde is professor and chair of the economics department. His fields of academic research include the health system and health policy, macroeconomic forecasting, and forensic economics.
Gail Zandee is associate professor and community partnership coordinator of the nursing department. Her academic interests include health promotion/illness prevention, community-based participatory research, and community health worker programs.
