Join the Heritage Class for the annual spring lecture, this year featuring Harlan Kredit '61 speaking about the nature of the National Parks.

The National Parks system is considered to be one of the United States’ best ideas but was not an easy idea to sell to European settlers attempting to “tame the frontier” in the late 19th century.  Even so, modern America owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to the visionaries who made it happen.  Today, the National Parks are being visited at a record pace which brings with it a special set of challenges.

Having taught high school science for the past 57 years and worked as a park ranger in Yellowstone for the past 47 summers, Harlan Kredit ‘61 will share his perspective on the development and challenges of the National Park system, with a special emphasis on the geysers and animals of Yellowstone, and the unique role it plays in the National Park debate.

Schedule:

3 p.m. - Heritage Class Lecture, Recital Hall, Covenant Fine Arts Center

4 p.m. - Cookies, coffee, and fellowship, CFAC West Lobby

There is no cost to attend, but please RSVP so we know how many to expect!
