Community Symphony Fall Concert

The Calvin Community Symphony is excited to present a dynamic collection of classical pieces for the West Michigan community this fall. The concert features many exciting works including local guitarist Andrew Bergeron performing Joaquin Rodrigo’s Fantasia para un Gentilhombre. William Walton’s Crown Imperial will be dedicated to Calvin University’s new president, Dr. Wiebe Boer. This piece was also played at the coronation of the late Queen Elizabeth II, making the timing of this work even more special. Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Surprise” symphony keeps audience members on the edge of their seats, while Mendelssohn’s dramatic “Reformation” symphony, originally written as his celebration of the triumph of Protestantism, evokes a majestic history of church music.

Calvin Community Symphony concerts are general admission and free to attend. There will be an opportunity to make a tax-deductible donation to support the symphony. Your patronage is greatly appreciated by the musicians and all who enjoy the music.
