Stewardship Volunteer Day

  • Wednesday, October 27, 2021
  • 1:30 PM–4:00 PM
  • Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens

Please join our stewardship staff as we care for the Calvin Ecosystem Preserve & Native Gardens this fall.  Volunteer tasks include controlling invasive shrubs (i.e. common buckthorn, honeysuckle and multiflora rose) in forest habitat, weeding native garden beds, increasing site biodiversity by planting native grasses and wildflowers and maintaining hiking trails.

WHEN: Wednesdays from 1:30-4:00 pm (Sept 15-Nov 17)

WHERE: Check in at the Gardener's Cottage (opposite the Bunker Interpretive Center)

To be prepared, please bring a water bottle and dress in layers for the weather.  Sunscreen, hats, long pants/sleeves and closed toed shoes are strongly recommended.  Restrooms and drinking fountains are located nearby but masks are required to enter buildings.

To register, please contact Jen Howell, Land Manager @ jlh89@calvin.edu or (616) 526-9952. To properly socially distance, space is limited to 12 volunteers.
