As biologists, ecologists, and conservation biologists we crave stability. In fact, it is really the human condition. Yet change is inevitable; even natural. Our current ecosystems differ dramatically from their historical state. Human societies continue to shift in dramatic and sometimes unpredictable ways. Even our own local communities change over time. How do we operate steadfastly and make an impact within a system in constant flux? Prof Proppe will use examples from his research on songbirds with Calvin University students to demonstrate ways that animal communities can accommodate environmental change, and how wildlife and land managers can facilitate success in the midst of rapid human development. We will also explore how our desire for stability can support or challenge our influence and effectiveness as Christ followers.

Join us as we celebrate the work of Prof. Proppe, one of Calvin's own beloved professors within the Biology Department, for this special seminar.
