Commencement Day Breakfast

This event is now sold out. Thank you!

Celebrate this special milestone

Parents and guardians of the Class of 2019: Start your Commencement Saturday with a time of meaningful reflection and celebration with fellow parents of Calvin graduates! President Le Roy will be available to greet guests before the breakfast. Biology professor David Warners will be our featured speaker on this milestone day, sharing a few thoughts on "Children as Gifts."

Here's what one parent had to say about last year's event: "We simply enjoyed an opportunity to reflect on the college experience for our students. We enjoyed reflecting on being a parent. We enjoyed remembering the Providence of God in our lives. We enjoyed having 'our moment' to be together with other parents and recall the experience of the past four years."

Speaker

Professor Warners has taught in the Calvin biology department since 1997. He works in the areas of restoration ecology and faith-based creation care, and his current research focuses on how to engage the local community to work together in restoring health and beauty to the Plaster Creek Watershed. The Class of 2006 voted him their Professor of the Year. Most importantly, Dave and his wife, Teri, are also current Calvin parents who will be celebrating their daughter Rachel’s graduation.

Menu

Scrambled eggs, scallion hash browns, French toast, bacon and sausage, muffins, fresh sliced fruit, coffee and juice

Location

This event will take place in the Great Hall of the Prince Conference Center.

Registration

The event has open seating. Registrations will be accepted until Thursday, May 9, or until the event sells out.

Guests

The focus of this event is parents and adult family members of graduating seniors, and it provides the opportunity to meet and share stories with fellow parents, grandparents and families. Graduating students and younger siblings are welcome to attend, but the event will likely be of less interest to them. We encourage you to talk with students and younger siblings about their preferences, and we will welcome whichever family members choose to attend. Please email parents@calvin.edu if you have further questions.
