On Wednesday, November 14, the Calvin Center for Innovation in Business (CCIB) is inviting businessmen and women from throughout west Michigan to lunch. The event will honor businesses and individuals that have partnered with Calvin College's business program to create outstanding learning opportunities for students.

The inaugural Calvin Annual Business Partners Awards Luncheon features keynote speaker Bonnie Wurzbacher, who recently completed a 27-year career with the Coca-Cola Company and now serves as a senior advisor with World Vision. At Coca- Cola, Wurzbacher served as senior vice president of Global Customer and Channel Leadership and vice president of Customer Strategy.

In her talk, titled "Bringing Meaning to Work," Wurzbacher will encourage individuals to pursue their careers in ways that integrate and honor their faith and spirituality in both product and process.

"Bonnie has long been a proponent of integrating her faith and her work," said Bob Eames, director of the Calvin Center for Innovation in Business. "Our business program teaches the same: that business is a noble, valuable calling and one that is done best illuminated by faith. Our students learn to embrace and integrate their faith into their work, wrestling with the grey areas of business and graduating well-prepared for lives of service in business."

Wurzbacher is a founding member of Coca-Cola's advisory councils for Customer and Commercial Leadership, Women's Leadership and Corporate Social Responsibility. Her appreciation and passion for the critical role of business around the world has made her an effective voice for successful, sustainable and ethical business practices.

"Bonnie's message is particularly well suited for our west Michigan business community," explained Eames. "It contains many employers-of-choice who respect and value the whole person and strive to provide opportunities for their employees to use their creative talents and to flourish."

Event organizers say the luncheon will provide attendees with a great opportunity to network with west Michigan business leaders. It is also a time for Calvin to recognize a few outstanding partners for their continued commitment to Calvin's business program.

The CCIB will honor Steelcase with an outstanding corporate partner award and will award Van Wyk Risk and Financial Management CEO Max Van Wyk, Calvin College president emeritus Gaylen Byker and Calvin business professor Bob Medema with outstanding partner awards.

Tickets are $25 per person and registration closes Friday, November 9. The event will be held in The Great Hall of Calvin's Prince Conference Center. A networking reception begins at 11:30 a.m. with the luncheon to follow at noon.
