On October 5, 2012, Calvin College's Prince Conference Center (PCC) is hosting an open house in celebration of its 10th-anniversary. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. the public is invited to stop in for cake and refreshments, take a tour of the center, learn about the history of the facility and hear about the various services PCC offers its guests.

The conference center offers overnight accommodations for up to 261 people (69 guest rooms). PCC also offers 13 conference rooms, both large and small. The most spacious venue, the Great Hall, can seat between 320 and 400 guests.

Since 2002, PCC has accommodated thousands of overnight guests and hosted hundreds of events, including weddings, reunions and retreats. The facility, which serves as Calvin College's hospitality center, has also hosted large-scale events, such as the Festival of Faith and Writing and the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex dedication. Most notably, in 2005, PCC was transformed into a museum, hosting 200 artifacts of Nabataean culture for the "Petra: Lost City of Stone" exhibition.

PCC's business has grown more than anyone expected when the facility was opened back in October, 2002, on the campus of Calvin College. Sales Manager Valerie Cook, who has more than a decade of experience working in the hospitality industry, says she's impressed with how well the facility has held up over the past ten years.

"We have very loyal guests, some with no connection to Calvin," says Cook. "They appreciate us. Our clientele values what we do and so they give that back by respecting our facilities."

The PCC has received regional and national recognition for its excellence in dining, sanitation and sustainability practices. In 2012, PCC received a Loyal E. Horton Dining Award in the "Catering-Online Menu" category from the National Association of College & University Food Services. In 2010, PCC was awarded the Green Lodging Michigan (GLM) Steward certification from the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth. And Cook says that Trip Advisor ranks the Prince Conference Center number one among like facilities in west Michigan.

The anniversary open house is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the PCC front desk at 616-526-7200. Please RSVP to am22@cavin.edu if you plan to attend.
