Calvin College is again ranked among the top colleges and universities in the
2013 'U.S. News & World Report' Best Colleges Guidebook.
The 2013 Best Colleges guide examines how 1,400 accredited four-year schools
compare on a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence, which include
among other factors, retention and graduation rates, strength of faculty and
academic reputation.
Overall, Calvin remains in the top tier of schools rated in the survey and
ranks 110th among national Liberal Arts Colleges. For the third straight year
Calvin is one of just 27 institutions to be recognized by 'U.S. News & World
Report' for its commitment to service-learning. The college is also just one of
23 institutions to receive recognition for the quality of its first-year
experience.
And, administrators at peer institutions ranked Calvin College 12th among
liberal arts colleges nationwide for its strong commitment to teaching.
"This is great recognition for our faculty," said Calvin's provost Claudia
Beversluis. "The faculty that work at Calvin College are committed to their
teaching. They make teaching their top priority and students appreciate that.
And, the faculty continues that teaching in their scholarship, oftentimes
working alongside students on meaningful research projects throughout the
academic year and during the summer."

Guide to Colleges, which features 315 of the best and most interesting colleges
and universities. Forbes' annual college guide ranked Calvin 169th in 2013 (up
49 spots from 2012).
