On Thursday, May 5, 2011, the Calvin Environmental Assessment Program (CEAP) spring poster session will kickoff with a speech by Peter Lagerwey, a nationally-recognized expert on bicycle and pedestrian issues.

Lagerwey, a 1975 alumnus of Calvin College, will speak to the Calvin community at 4 p.m. in the Meeter Center Lecture Hall. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience working in more than 200 communities, he will describe trends in transportation, focusing specifically on bicycling and walking. He will also lead a discussion on how Calvin College faculty and students can find practical ways to affect public policy.

Following the discussion, posters from CEAP student projects will be on display in the library lobby.

Established in 1996, CEAP is a collaborative effort of faculty across Calvin's campus, mainly in the sciences, whose focus is the understanding of the campus and the local ecosystem. The goal is to impact the college and local municipalities as well as individual behavior.
