On February 10, 2011, a handful of prestigious faculty awards were handed out at Calvin's faculty awards dinner.
Larry Herzberg, professor of Asian Studies, was the 2011 recipient of the Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching, the highest honor that the college bestows upon any faculty member.
The college also handed out a handful of specialized teaching awards, established by the Office of the Provost, to recognize the contributions that faculty make to the Calvin College learning community.
Irene Konyndyk, professor of French, received the Innovative Teaching Award; Ned Nielsen, professor of engineering, was awarded the Advising and Mentoring Award; Gerard Fondse Jr., professor of English, received the Community-Based Teaching Award and Stephanie Sandberg, communication arts and sciences professor, took home the From Every Nation Award for Excellence in Teaching.
