One of former President George W. Bush's top aides will be speaking at Calvin College this week. At 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010, Michael Gerson will give the 14th-annual Paul B. Henry Lecture in the Willow Room of the Prince Conference Center.

The Paul B. Henry Institute for the Study of Christianity and Politics was created in 1997 to continue the work of integrating Christian faith and politics advanced by its namesake, educator and public servant Paul B. Henry.

Gerson, a regular contributor to "The Washington Post" and "Newsweek" and author of the book 'Heroic Conservatism,' will engage the Calvin community with his lecture on "Tensions at the Crossroads of Religion and Politics."

Gerson currently serves as a senior research fellow in the Center of Faith and International Affairs at the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE), a faith-based, non-partisan think tank in Arlington, Virginia. His work at IGE focuses on human rights, global health and conflict resolution. Before joining IGE, Gerson worked with the Council on Foreign Relations and was a top aide to former president George W. Bush from 1999 to 2006.
