Summary: For Calvin professor of economics Roland Hoksbergen, the devastating earthquake in Haiti seems all too familiar. Hoksbergen has a PhD from the University of Notre Dame in economic development and spent time in 1976 with the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) doing earthquake restoration in Guatemala. His wife is a survivor of that 7.5 magnitude earthquake, which killed more than 30,000 people. In a Q&A with Calvin's director of communications and marketing, Hoksbergen reflects on the current situation in Haiti and sheds light on what the country faces in the coming days, weeks, months and years.
