Summary: On Friday, October 30, Calvin College has a number of events lined up to celebrate Reformation Day.

On Friday, October 30, Calvin College will host a special Reformation Day celebration for "John Calvin's 500th Birthday year."

The day's festivities begin with a special Reformation Day chapel service at 10 a.m. in the Seminary Chapel.

From there, visitors can head over to the H. Henry Meeter Center for Calvin Studies (fourth floor of the Hekman Library) for an open house. The open house is a chance for guests to see the Meeter Center's rare book collection, take a John Calvin birthday quiz and listen to two presentations (11 a.m. and 2 p.m.) on the rare book collection and John Calvin.

At 3:30 p.m. in the Spoelhof Center (room 150), Barbara Carvill, emeritus professor of German, will lecture on the heart-in-hand motif in Calvin's iconography. And the Center Art Gallery will be hosting an exhibition, titled "Picturing the Reformer: Images of John Calvin."

A performance by the Boston Camerata, joined by the Calvin Capella, rounds out the Reformation Day festivities. The concert begins at 8 p.m. in the College Chapel and is preceded by a lecture by Professor Timothy Steele at 7 p.m. in the Chapel choir room.

Note: Tickets are required for the 8 p.m. concert. See http://www.calvin.edu/boxoffice/ for more info.
