At 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, the Philippine Madrigal Singers will perform a mini-concert and answer questions in the Calvin Chapel.
At 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, the group will play during worship at Calvin's Seminary Chapel and then hold a concert with Calvin's Capella group at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
The Philippine Madrigal Singers are one of the most awarded choirs in Asia. The group has consistently won major prizes in prestigious international choral competitions, making them one of the most outstanding choirs in the world.
Calvin professor of music, Joel Navarro, said it is an honor to host one of the world's most acclaimed and awarded choirs:
"We are able to witness and experience the incredible musicality and championship caliber of this Philippine choir, an ensemble which carries the distinction of being the first Asian choir to have won the European Grand Prix twice (1997 and 2007), the most difficult choral competition in the world today," said Navarro.
