Quinn Harr, a junior philosophy and classical languages major at Calvin College, has received the Frank M. Fitzgerald Public Service Award, which honors young staffers in the Michigan Legislature. Last year Calvin's Nate Knapper also was so honored.
Above and beyond their legislative service, recipients are singled out for their abilities in academics, communicating and volunteering.
Harr, who transferred to Calvin this year, will be a McGregor Fellow this summer and then will spend next fall overseas at Oxford University. At Calvin he also has earned the Kenneth J. Konyndyk, Jr. Scholarship in Philosophy and the Ernest Van Vugt Scholarship in Classical Languages.
Last year Harr worked on the 2008 edition of the Historic Michigan Travel Guide, the first update to the guide since 1980.
