A trio of local organizations are collaborating to sponsor a community-wide
Ascension Day worship service on Thursday, May 17 at 7:30 pm in the Calvin
College Chapel.

This service is sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Preaching at Calvin
Theological Seminary, the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and the office
of the Dean of the Chapel at Calvin and will be hosted by Woodlawn Christian
Reformed Church.

The Rev. Scott Hoezee of the Center for Excellence in Preaching will deliver a
message called "The Ascension Hello," based on Matthew 28:11-20, while Norma de
Waal Malefyt will serve as organist and a brass ensemble will accompany
congregational singing of the great Ascension hymns.

In addition nursery is provided and refreshments will follow the service.

The service follows a conference a year ago called "With a Shout: What
Difference Does the Ascension Make for Everyday Life?" That day-long
conference explored the meaning of the Ascension and culminated in a community
worship service.
