April 20, 2007 == MEDIA ADVISORY

Hundreds of Calvin students, faculty and staff are wearing maroon today in a
show of support for Virginia Tech University. And after morning Chapel, at
10:20 am, many of the students who were clad in maroon, and some in orange,
gathered on the Commons Lawn on campus for a group photo.

The effort began this week when the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, and the
state's governor, asked Americans to show support for the shooting victims and
their families by wearing the school's colors on "Orange and Maroon Effect" day
on Friday, April 20.

Says Calvin president Gaylen Byker: "Since maroon is one of Calvin's school
colors this request seemed like a very appropriate way for people at Calvin to
show support."
