October 20, 2006 == MEDIA ADVISORY

With 10 off campus programs to such countries as China, Honduras and Ghana,
numerous off campus interim courses and hundreds of students from countries
around the world, Calvin College is a place with a strong international
flavor.

Which is why the school decided to host a special Passport Application Party
on campus next week. It will be held Tuesday, October 24 from 2:30 pm to 7 pm.
in the college's Campus Store.

Calvin's Jane Prins is helping organize the event and she says interest on
campus is high with over 100 people already signed up to get passports.

"Passports will be necessary for U.S. citizens for all air travel beginning on
January 8, 2007," she says. "This includes Canada, Mexico, Central and South
America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. Because Calvin has so many international
programs, including many interim trips abroad, we decided to make it easy for
people on campus to get a passport."

Joining forces for the party are the college's financial services office, its
off campus programs office, Witte Travel and the U.S. Post Office.

People who get their passport at Calvin will pay the normal price of $97 if
age 16 or older or $82 if under age 16. So they won't save money. But they
can have their passport picture taken on campus and won't have to travel
downtown or wait in line to get their passport. And they can have a drink and
a bite to eat as the party will include hot cider and donuts.

Says Prins: "The Post Office is now swamped with people trying to get
passports before this deadline. Hopefully this will be convenient and fun way
for Calvin folks to get their passports."
