Calvin Commencement Media Opportunities

Media looking for an opportunity to do Calvin College Commencement stories
prior to May 21 will have lots of chances over the next few days. Below is a
list of story ideas for media interested in covering Commencement '05.

Commencement Ticket Pick-Up
Calvin graduates may pick up their Commencement tickets at the Calvin Box
Office at the following times: Thursday, May 19 from 9 am to 6 pm and Friday,
May 20 from 9 am to 6 pm.

Cap and Gown Pick Up
Calvin graduates may pick up their Commencement cap and gown at room 123 of
the Fine Arts Center at the following times: Thursday, May 19 from 9 am to 6
pm and Friday, May 20 from 9 am to 6 pm

Commencement Rehearsal
Rehearsal is on Friday, May 20 at 3:30 pm in the Fieldhouse. The rehearsal
allows Calvin to practice processing in to the Fieldhouse and also to share
some last-minute announcements - like when to line up on Saturday.

Commencement Worship Service
The service will be on Friday, May 20 at 5 pm in the Chapel. Parents and
family members have been invited as well. The service will feature a choir,
seniors reflecting on their years at Calvin, a brass ensemble, a worship band
and other leaders. Media who might cover this service are asked to be as
unobtrusive as possible recognizing the religious aspects of this event.

Commencement Cookout
The annual cookout will be held on Friday, May 20 from 5 :30 to 7 pm. In case
of rain the cookout will be held in the Commons and Knollcrest dining halls.

Senior Breakfast/Brunch
This event will be on Saturday, May 21 and begins at 10 am in the Commons
Dining Hall. This event, lasting a little less than two hours, will feature
food, fellowship and prizes. Plus Dr. Nicholas Wolterstorff (originally
scheduled as the 2005 Commencement speaker) will briefly address the seniors
with an informal talk entitled "Reflections of a Scholar."
