Calvin, Partners for Christian Development to Host Business Conference

Calvin and Partners for Christian Development will host an interesting
conference on business and faith on June 11-12 at the Prince Conference
Center.

Among the plenary speakers will be Neal Plantinga, president of Calvin
Seminary, on "The Christian's Main Business" and Dr. Laura Nash, a senior
research fellow at Harvard Business School, on "Strengthening Your Calling:
What is Lasting Success?" A sidenote: Nash is the author of seven books, has
spent the last quarter century studying business ethics and is a consultant on
corporate values and leadership for a variety of corporations and business
groups.

In addition there will be seminars and workshops on such topics as:

*the Stryker story (Stryker Corporation is one of the worldwide leaders in the
medical products industry)
*the similarities between high tech start-ups and starting new churches
*mentoring welfare-to-career employees from an employers perspective
*building a generation of networkers through mentoring
*mentoring for business creation: A live example
*walking the talk with partners in Nicaragua and Haiti
*globalization and poverty
*food security and U.S. agriculture studies

Presenters will include the CEO of Stryker, the head of a group of finance
professionals responsible for a $250M international venture capital portfolio
and a $200M technology portfolio of new business ventures, the human resources
manager at Cascade Engineering, the regional director of the Michigan Small
Business and Technology Development Center in Grand Rapids and many others.
