A pair of former Hudsonville Unity Christian High School standouts have received Division III All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Calvin College senior Stephan Hooker has been named to the NSCAA Division III All-America first team while sophomore Trent Vegter has been named to the second team.
Both players are receiving NSCAA Division III All-America honors for the first time.
A midfielder, Hooker has nine goals and four assists this year. Four of his goals have been game-winning goals. He has also been 2-for-2 on penalty kick attempts this fall.
A native of Hudsonville, was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player and was named to the All-MIAA first team for a third straight year.
Hooker has career totals of 39 goals, 16 assists and 94 points. He is ranked seventh on Calvin's career list for goals and eighth in points.
Vegter also hails from Hudsonville. He is the second member of his immediate family to receive NSCAA Division III All-America accolades as his older brother Travis Vegter was a first team selection in 2013 and a second team choice in 2014. Trent Vegter is also third member of his extended family to be named an All-American at Calvin College as his uncle Bill Sall was an NABC Division III All-American for the Calvin men's basketball team in both 1989 and 1990.

He has also scored four goals along with seven assists this fall for a total of 15 points. Earlier this fall he was named to the All-MIAA first team. He was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week twice.
"I am thrilled to see Stephan and Trent receive national recognition and I know their teammates are just as thrilled for them," said Calvin men's soccer coach Ryan Souders who has now coached seven All-American players in his five years at the helm of the Knights. "Along those same lines however, Stephan and Trent would also point out that this is a team award. They could not have reached this accomplishment without the support of their teammates."
The Calvin men's soccer program has now produced at least one NSCAA All-American in seven of the last eight years. Over the last five years, four of Calvin's All-Americans have been Hudsonville Unity Christian High School graduates. Those four individuals include Nick Holtrop (2012), Travis Vegter (2013 & 2014), Stephan Hooker (2016) and Trent Vegter (2016).
Calvin is currently 22-2-0 overall and preparing to face Brandeis University Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. (EST) in an NCAA III Tournament semifinal in Roanoke, Virginia.
