Brian Diemer Named Great Lakes Regional Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year;
Trent Vegter Featured in Grand Rapids Press / Mlive.com as Men's Soccer Set to Face Messiah College at 5 p.m.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Calvin College head coach Brian Diemer has been named the Division III Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year for both men's and women's cross country by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association.

Diemer will receive both awards this evening at at the NCAA III Cross Country Nationals Banquet in Louisville, Kentucky.

Now in his 30th year at the helm of the Calvin men's cross country program, Diemer is receiving USTFCCA Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors in men's cross country for the first time since 2012.

This past Saturday, he led the Knights to its first Great Lakes Regional title since 2012 as Calvin posted a first place team score of 63 points.

Earlier this fall, he led the Calvin men's cross country program to its 30th consecutive MIAA title.
Diemer has also held the title of head women's cross country coach since 2006. Last Saturday, he led the Calvin women's cross country team to its fourth Great Lakes Regional title in the last five years, posting a first place team score of 90 points.

Diemer is receiving USTFCCCA Division III Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year honors in women's cross country for the sixth time in eight years.
Saturday's NCAA III Championships will be held at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville with the women's 6K race set to start at 11 a.m. with the men's 8K race set to follow at noon.

MEN'S SOCCER

The Calvin men's soccer team is set to kick off an NCAA III Tournament sectional semifinal game at 5 p.m. today. One of the keys to Calvin's successfull 20-2-0 campaign thus far has been the play of sophomore Trent Vegter who is the third in a line of brothers who have made a big impact on the Calvin men's soccer program.
