Calvin Fall Sports Athletes Receive MIAA Player of the Week Honors;

MEN'S SOCCER

For the second time in his Calvin College career, junior Nate Van Ryn has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week in men's soccer.
"It is great to see Nate get recognized for the fantastic week he had," said head coach Ryan Souders. "He performed excellently when call upon and was key in our two shutouts last week."
A native of Grandville, Michigan, and a graduate of Calvin Christian High School, Van Ryn helped propel Calvin to a pair of victories in the MIAA last week. He has helped the Knights not allow a goal in MIAA play this season. Calvin posted a 2-0 victory at Alma on Tuesday and downed Albion on Saturday, 1-0. Van Ryn tallied seven saves, including four on Saturday.
The Knights return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Indiana to face Trine.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

For the fourth time this fall, Calvin College senior Zac Nowicki has been named the MIAA Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

A native of Comstock Park and a graduate of Grandville Calvin Christian High School, Nowicki had a standout performance in the Gold Division of the Notre Dame Piane Invitational last Friday. In the 8K race, Nowicki took 18th place individually with a time of 25:08.2.

Nowicki was the top Division III finisher in the race as he helped the 15th-ranked Knights finish 10th with a team score of 286 points.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

For the first time in her career, Calvin College freshman Johanna Admiraal has been named the MIAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Admiraal (Towson High School) had a sparkling performance last Friday in the Gold Division of the Notre Dame Piane Invitational. In the 5K race, Admiraal took 43rd in a time of 18:00.8. Running primarily in a field of Division I and Division II competitors Admiraal was the second-highest Division III finisher.

She helped the ninth-ranked Knights finish 13th as a team with 339 points.
