GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The No. 1 Knights made quick work of the Kalamazoo Hornets on Friday night, 3-0. Calvin improves to 11-0 on the season and remained perfect in the MIAA at 5-0. "I am really happy with how we played tonight," said head coach Amber Warners. "There are many things we did well, but there are things that we have to fix. We have to now get ready for tomorrow, because Alma is a very good team."
The Knights jumped out to an early lead in set one, taking a 9-3 lead. Calvin would extend the lead behind the serve of senior Laura Danhoff (Willard, Ohio/Willard) to take a 16-4 lead. Junior Tessa Van Laare (Toronto, Ontario/Toronto District Christian) and Laura Danhoff both notched five kills in the second set.
Calvin took the lead early in the third set and would not let it go. Leading 9-4, the Knights would not allow the Hornets to get closer than five points the rest of the set.
