Calvin/Hope Women's Basketball Rivalry Set to Renew Wednesday Night; Groenewold and Pruis Named D3soccer.com All-Americans
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Calvin/Hope women's basketball rivalry will renew Wednesday night at DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland. Wednesday's meeting will feature a pair of nationally-ranked teams that are currently tied for the league lead with 7-0 conference records.
Ranked 15th nationally, Calvin (12-3 overall) will carry a four-game win streak into Wednesday's contest against a Hope team that is ranked fourth nationally. Calvin is just 2-10 against Hope all-time at DeVos Fieldhouse but a year ago, the Knights defeated the Flying Dutch 76-74 in Holland on a three-point play in the closing seconds of regulation. Calvin continued on to win the next two meetings, defeating Hope 61-44 at Calvin in mid-February and then topping the Flying Dutch less than two weeks later 77-73 in the MIAA Tournament finals at Van Noord Arena.
Calvin leads the all-time series with Hope 69-44.
The two teams will meet for a second time on February 20 at Calvin's Van Noord Arena at 12:30 p.m.

MEN'S SOCCER
Two members of the Calvin men's soccer team have received D3soccer.com All-America honors.
Calvin senior Nick Groenewold has been named to the D3soccer.com All-America first team while senior Taylor Pruis has been named to the D3soccer.com All-America third team.
The All-America berth is the second of the 2015-16 academic year for Groenewold as he was also named a first team Division III All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
A defender, Groenewold is from Oak Brook, Illinois. He is a graduate of Timothy Christian High School. Groenewold was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player this fall and landed a spot on the All-MIAA first team while receiving MIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors three times.
He was also a threat offensively with seven goals, three assists and 17 points. Three of his seven goals were been game-winning goals. He was also part of a Calvin defense that posted 20 shutouts and allowed only six goals.
A forward, Pruis is from Grand Rapids and is a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School. This fall, Pruis tallied nine goals, 12 assists and 30 points. He was also named to the 2015 All-MIAA first team and to the NSCAA Division III All-Central Region first team.
He concluded his Calvin career with 30 goals, 35 assists and 95 points. He ranks third on the Calvin career list in assists and seventh in career points.
