MEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Calvin men defeated Olivet on Saturday afternoon, 237-34. The win improves the Knights to 1-1 on the season. Calvin won 15 of the 16 events on Saturday.
"Happy with the motivation the team provided itself," said head coach Dan Gelderloos. "We swam to our standards and had a lot of new swims in a low pressure situation, which is good."
The Knights started the day taking the 400 medley relay. The team of sophomore Skyler Fish (Ionia, Mich./Ionia), senior Johnson Cochran (Mount Vernon, Ohio/Mount Vernon), freshman Jared Britton (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) and freshman Andrew Kasper Batava, Ill./Marmion Academy) recorded a first-place time of 3:32.38.
Sophomore Tanner Vincent (Novi, Mich./Novi) took first place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 1:28.94.
Skyler Fish touched the wall at 1:50.22 in the 200 freestyle to take first place. He also won the 200 backstroke at 2:00.07.
Senior Brandon Muma (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) finished in first place in the 100 backstroke at 54.63.
Freshman Nathan Olberding (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) recorded a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly at 2:03.68. Olberding also took first in the 100 freestyle at 49.79
Jared Britton claimed first place in the 50 freestyle, finishing at 22.01.
On the 1-meter board, sophomore Michael Moentmann (Solon, Ohio/Solon) finished in first at 266.78. Moentmann also took first on the 3-meter board at 288.89
Johnson Cochran earned a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:13.72.
In the 500 freestyle, senior Mitch Schroder (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) took first at 5:02.15.
Freshman Ben Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant) was the first to touch the wall in the 100 butterfly at 53.95.
Senior Caleb Meindertsma (Annandale, Va./Trinity Christian) clocked in at 2:04.95 in the 200 IM to take first place.
Calvin finished the night taking first place in the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Mitch Schroder, Brandon Muma, Johnson Cochran and junior Eli Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant) at 3:13.56.
The Knights return to the pool on Friday as they host Albion, Carthage and Ohio Northern.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING

The team of freshman Anna Serino (Pinckney, Mich./Pinckney), junior Adrienne Wesselius Sioux Center, Iowa/Unity Christian), senior Alayna Gallegos (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville) and sophomore Abby VanHarn (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) recorded a first-place time of 4:11.75.
Anna Serino took first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.83.
Freshman Daniella Sugijanto (Walnut Creek, Calif./Northgate) touched the wall at 1:03.68 in the 100 backstroke to take first place.
Sophomore Klara Oh (Kent, Wash./Home school) finished in first place in the 100 breaststroke at 1:14.77. Oh was also victorious in the 200 breaststroke, finishing at 2:40.31.
Alayna Gallegos recorded a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly at 2:15.46.
Senior Megan Schroder (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) claimed first place in the 50 freestyle, finishing at 25.39. She also won the 200 backstroke at 2:16.49.
On the 1-meter board, sophomore Nicole Langerak (Jenison, Mich./Jenison) finished in first at 255.07. Langerak also took first on the 3-meter board at 269.85.
Sophomore Rachel Mattson (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) earned a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle, with a time of 55.93.
In the 500 freestyle, Abby VanHarn took first at 5:20.20. VanHarn also won the 200 IM at 2:24.77
Freshman Madelyn Smith (Allegan, Mich./Allegan) was the first to touch the wall in the 100 butterfly at 1:05.27.
Calvin finished the night taking first place in the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Madelyn Smith, Anna Serino, freshman Alyssa Oezer (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and freshman Kendall Murphy (Modesto, Calif./Home school) finished at 3:47.28.
The Knights return to the pool on Friday as they host Albion, Carthage and Ohio Northern.
