For the third consecutive year, Calvin senior Grant VanPutten has received all-region baseball honors honors. A native of Holland and a graduate of Holland Christian High School, VanPutten has been named to the ABCA Rawlings Division III All-Region first team and to the D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region third team.

As a first team ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) selection, VanPutten is now eligible for ABCA Division III All-America consideration.

A four-year starter in centerfield, VanPutten ended his record- breaking career with a standout senior campaign this spring. The centerfielder and leadoff batter hit .439, tallying a single-season record 72 hits, including an MIAA-record 49 in conference play, 12 doubles, swiped 22 bases, and struck out just five times. He also became just the second player in Calvin baseball history to win an MIAA batting crown as he batted .471 in league games this spring. He concluded his Calvin career as the record holder in hits (234), doubles (39), at bats (591), runs scored (150), and stolen bases (98).

During the 2015 season, he was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week once and was also named the MIAA Position Player of the Week once.

In addition, VanPutten was also named to the All-MIAA first team for the third straight year this month.

VanPutten helped Calvin finish 22-21 overall and in second place in the MIAA regular season standings with a 17-11 conference record. VanPutten also helped Calvin reach the MIAA Tournament finals for the second straight year before bowing to tournament and regular season champion Adrian. During a four-game MIAA Tournament run, VanPutten batted .500 (9-for-18) with a slugging percentage of .722.
