CALVIN TO HOST FOOD DRIVES DURING CALVIN-HOPE BASKETBALL GAMES FEB. 4 & 18
Help Calvin College and Hope College SAAC with a community canned food drive to be donated to local food banks.
Calvin College SAAC has teamed up with Hope students to collect up to 10,000 cans for local food banks. Please bring 10 non-perishable food items to either Hope/Calvin game and you will not only receive the satisfaction of helping out those in need, but also a 'Beat Hope' wristband.
Fans will be able to donate perishable food items in the Spoelhof Fieldhouse lobby adjacent to the Venema Aquatic Center balcony entrance as part of the Calvin/Hope men's basketball game on February 4 and the Calvin/Hope women's basketball game February 18.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Calvin women's basketball team continues to move up the national rankings. The Knights are ranked sixth in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll released earlier this evening. Calvin was ranked seventh a week ago.

The Knights are currently 19-0 overall and 10-0 in the MIAA. Calvin will host Olivet at 8 p.m. on Wednesday night at Van Noord Arena.

MORE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Calvin women's basketball coach John Ross has been named the Women's Division III News/Schelde Sports Coach of the Month.

The announcement was made earlier this morning by the publication based out of Beaverton, Oregon. Ross led his Knights to a perfect 10-0 record during the month, including a 76-74 road win against rival Hope College that put his team in first place in the conference standings.
Calvin ended January with an unblemished 19-0 mark and held a Top 10 ranking by both D3hoops.com and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Ross is in his 12th year at the helm of the Calvin women's basketball program. In 11 years as head coach, Ross has compiled a won-loss record of 268-60 for a winning percentage of .817 that includes five MIAA titles, seven trips to the NCAA III Tournament and three berths in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA III Tournament. He is ranked seventh among active NCAA III women's basketball coaches in terms of winning percentage.
