A native of Palos Heights Illinois, Maggie Kamp was named to the Capital One Division III All-America second team earlier today by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA).

A year ago, her sister Lizzie Kamp was named the Capital One Division III Academic All-American of the Year. In 2011, her oldest sister Rebecca Kamp was also named the Capital One Division III Academic All-American of the Year. Combined the Kamp sisters have now received Capital One Academic All-America honors five times with Lizzie doing so in 2011 (2nd team) and 2012 (first team) and Rebecca achieving the feat in 2009 and 2011.

A graduate of Chicago Christian High School, Maggie Kamp recently concluded a storybook sophomore season as she helped lead the Calvin women's volleyball team to its second national championship in the last four years. In a five-set win over Cal Lutheran in the NCAA III national championship match, she tallied 27 kills and was later named the Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA III Finals.

Prior to the national finals at Hope College, she was named a first team Division III All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association of America. She also garnered spots on the AVCA Division III Great Lakes All-Region team and All-MIAA first team. During mid-October, she was named the AVCA Division III National Player of the Week after leading Calvin to a 4-0 record at the Midwest Challenge Tournament.

A middle-hitter, Kamp compiled a season hitting percentage of .320 while averaging 4.26 kills, 4.80 points and 2.43 digs-per-set. She also recorded 29 service aces and averaged 0.54 blocks and 0.41 assists-per-set.

Kamp carries a 3.91 grade point average. She is majoring in business with an emphasis in graphic design.

She is the second Calvin athlete to receive Capital One Academic All-America honors this fall as Travis Vegter of the Calvin men's soccer team was also so honored last month.

Calvin has now had its athletes receive CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America accolades 105 times including 73 times in the last 17 years. Calvin currently ranks sixth on the all-time NCAA Division III list for CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-Americans.

The Capital One Division III Academic All-America (R) program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2013-14 D-III Academic All-America (R) teams program.
