VOLLEYBALL

For the second consecutive year, the Calvin women's volleyball team has received the AVCA Academic Team Award.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

Under the direction of head coach Amber Warners, the Calvin women's volleyball team compiled a 3.527 grade point average as a team during the 2012-13 academic year.

It was a landmark year for the Calvin women's volleyball team as the Knights captured their third straight MIAA regular season title, garnered their second straight MIAA Tournament title and then advanced all the way to the NCAA III National Championship final before falling in five sets to St. Thomas.

Earlier this year, the Calvin women's volleyball team received the MIAA's Team GPA Award. Individually, senior Lizzie Kamp was named the Division III Capital One Academic All-American of the year.
