CALVIN ATHLETES COMPETE IN AMAZING RACE INTERIM COURSE

Each January, Calvin offers a variety of both on-campus and off-campus interim
experiences. When established in the early 1970's, the original objective of the
interim term was to provide time and opportunity in the curriculum and calendar
for the student and staff to study topics which ordinarily would not be pursued
in the regular semester, or to attempt a new approach to a certain topic.

One of the interim courses offered this January is the Calvin College version
of: The Amazing Race led by Calvin professors and coaches Dr. Amber Warners and
Dr. Brian Bolt. Warners is the head coach of the women's volleyball team while
Bolt is the head coach of the men's golf team.

Several current Calvin varsity student-athletes are taking the interim course.
Those individuals include:

*Megan Rietema and Kristi Zietse of the women's volleyball team.

*Nick Holtrop and Zach Willis of the men's soccer team.

*Alyssa and Kimby Penning of the women's cross country and track and field
teams.

*Bethany Zoerhof of the women's tennis team.

*Cousins Jeremy Kamp (baseball) and Stacey Kamp (women's volleyball).

*Ali Roode of the women's tennis team.
