Women's Soccer Pegged for Fifth Place in MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll
 
WOMEN'S SOCCER
 
The Calvin women's soccer team has been picked to finish fifth in the MIAA
preseason coaches' poll released this afternoon. Defending MIAA regular season
champion Adrian has been picked to repeat as regular season league champion
while defending MIAA Tournament champion Alma has been picked second.
 
Kalamazoo is picked to finish third followed by Hope in fourth, Calvin in
fifth, Saint Mary's in sixth, Trine in seventh, Olivet in eighth and Albion in
ninth. Adrian received seven of a possible nine first place votes while Alma
and Hope both received one first place vote apiece.
 
A year ago, Calvin finished 10-10-0 overall and 10-6-0 in league play which
was good for a tie for fourth place in the league standings.
 
Calvin brings back a large group of returning letterwinners including seniors
Liz Cancel and Francesca Smith who were both named to the 2011 All-MIAA first
team.

Calvin will open its season on September 4 at home against Wheaton (IL) - the
2011 national runner-up with the opening kickoff set for 4 p.m.
