CALVIN KNIGHT SPORTS REPORT FOR FEBRUARY 27, 2012 (PART TWO)
Tom Snikkers Named to All-MIAA Men's Basketball Team;
Game Times and Ticket Prices Set for NCAA III Women's Basketball Regional
MEN'S BASKETBALL
For the second straight year, Tom Snikkers has been named to the All-MIAA first
team in men's basketball. A junior forward at Calvin, Snikkers (Jenison/Unity
Christian HS) averaged 15.0 points and 8.1 rebounds a game in league play,
ranking fifth in the final MIAA scoring race while leading the league in
rebounding.
He also finished seventh in the MIAA in assists-per-game average (2.86). During
the year, he was named MIAA Player of the Week once.
Calvin finished the year with an overall record of 13-13 and tied for third
place in the final league standings with an 8-6 conference mark.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Starting times and ticket prices have now been set for the NCAA III Regional
Women's Basketball Tournament scheduled to be held at Calvin this Friday and
Saturday at Van Noord Arena.
In addition to Calvin, the regional tournament field will also include
Wisconsin-Lutheran (24-4), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (23-4) and Franklin (25-2).
Wisconsin-Stevens Point will face Franklin (IN) in a Friday night first round
game at 5 p.m. (EST) with Calvin set to face Wisconsin-Lutheran in the other
first round game Friday night at 7:30 p.m (EST). Friday’s winners will play in
the second round Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices will be $6 general
admission, $3 for senior citizens, students and children (students are K-12 +
college students with ID). Tickets will be available through the Calvin Box
