Men's Basketball Advances to MIAA Tournament With Win at Olivet - To Face Hope
in Holland in MIAA Tournament Semis
MEN'S BASKETBALL
OLIVET - The Calvin men’s basketball team advanced to the MIAA Tournament with
an 81-74 victory at Olivet Saturday afternoon at the Cutler Events Center. With
the win, Calvin improves to 13-12 overall and more importantly to 8-6 in the
MIAA. Calvin gained the fourth seed for the MIAA Tournament as Adrian defeated
Albion 71-55 on Saturday evening to allow Calvin to finish one game ahead of
(7-7) Albion in the final league standings. Calvin will travel to rival Hope
for a Wednesday night MIAA Tournament semifinal game at 7:30 p.m.
In its win over Olivet Saturday, Calvin was led by sophomore center Tyler
Kruis who tallied a double-double with a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Kruis was one of four Calvin players to notch double-digits in scoring as
junior David Rietema had a career-high 12 points while junior Matt DeBoer had
12 points and junior Bryan Powell 10 points. Junior Tom Snikkers had eight
points to move past Kevin Broene and into 17th place on the Calvin career
scoring list.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game will be on sale at Calvin’s website
(www.calvin.edu/boxoffice), and at the Box Office on Monday and Tuesday,
February 20 and 21 from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. If available they will be sold
through Hope’s Box Office on Wednesday and at the door to the game.
Ticket Prices: General Admission tickets are FREE for MIAA students with
student ID. General Admission tickets are $3.00 for any college faculty/staff
and students, High School students and children, and $5.00 for all others.
