ADRIAN - On a day when it moved back into the Division III Top 25 coaches'
rankings, the Calvin men's soccer team also remained on top of the MIAA
standings with a 4-1 victory at Adrian Tuesday evening. With the win, Calvin is
now 10-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the MIAA. The Knights are one point ahead of
second place Olivet and three points ahead of third place Hope and Trine. The
Knights will travel to rival Hope on Saturday night for a 7 p.m. game.

Earlier in the day, Calvin moved into the NSCAA Division III Top 25 poll for
the first time in over a month as the Knights are ranked 24th in this week's
poll.

In the opening moments of Tuesday's victory at Adrian, Calvin struck fast,
scoring just 2:30 into the match as a shot deflected off an Adrian defender
into the net for an own goal, putting the Knights up 1-0. Just over 12 minutes
later, Calvin grabbed a two-goal lead as freshman Dino Duratovic (East Kentwood
HS) scored his fifth goal of the year on a feed from sophomore Zach Willis
(Unity Christian HS) as he slammed in a rebound shot into a wide-open net.

Calvin followed a similar formula in the second half as Willis scored his
team-leading seventh goal of the year, on a one-time blast after receiving a
diagonal pass from junior Chris Nance (Washington, Mich.). The goal came just
three minutes into the second half. In the 53rd minute, senior Tyler Vegter
(Unity Christian HS) netted his third goal of the year on a scramble play in
front of the net with Willis receiving credit for an assist on the play.

Adrian later scored a goal in the final 10 minutes of regulation to close out
the scoring.

Calvin finished the game with a 14-10 shots at goal advantage. Junior Michael
Dolan (Casco, Mich.) went the first 61 minutes and collected two saves while
senior Jared Rushlau (Grandville HS) went the final 29 minutes in goal.
