Track & Field Teams Compete at GVSU Tuneup Invitational;
MIAA Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament Ticket Information
 
MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
 
ALLENDALE - The Calvin men's and women's track and field teams continued their
indoor campaigns on Friday night at Grand Valley State Tuneup Invitational.
 
Highlights for the Calvin men's team included:
 
*A second place finish by the distance medley relay team of senior Alex
Wrobel, junior Carson Sterchi, freshman Calvin Kuyers and sophomore Greg
Whittle in a time of 10:11.68.
 
*A second place finish by sophomore Kyle Jasperse in the triple jump (44-0
3/4) and a fourth place finish by sophomore Russell Kamps in the triple jump
(41-5 1/4).
 
*A second place finish by freshman Ryan Huffman in the long jump (21-2 3/4).
 
*A sixth place finish by Wrobel in the 800 meters (1:57.34).
 
*A fifth place finish by sophomore Aaron Meckes in the shot put (48-5 1/4).
 
*An eighth place finish by freshman Matt Christians in the high jump (6-2
3/4).
 
Highlights for the Calvin women's team included:
 
*Senior Samantha Westveer placing third in the 5,000 meters (18:30.23).
 
*Senior Alison Tuuk placing eighth (2:20.40) and freshman Olivia Butler
finishing ninth (2:21.66) in the 800 meters.
 
*Junior Jodi Hoekstra finishing eighth (10:31.53), senior Gretchen Braymer
placing ninth (10:33.16) and junior Kaitlin Diemer finishing 10th (10:38.70) in
the 3,000 meters.
 
*Senior Sarah Reasoner finishing second (45-8) and sophomore Jentien Silvestro
finishing fifth (39-0 1/2) in the shot put.
 
*Senior Leigha Oberle finishing ninth in the weight throw (42-4 1/4).
 
*Senior Rebekah VanDyk winning the high jump (5-3 3/4).
 
*Freshman Julie Busscher finishing ninth in the 200 meters (26.95) and 12th in
the 60 meters (8.19).
 
*Senior Kim Wigboldy finishing fourth (16-4 1/2) and junior Jordan Gabrielse
placing fifth (15-8 1/4) in the long jump.
 
*Freshman Hillary Banning finishing fifth in the triple jump (32-7 3/4).
 
*Calvin's 4x400 meter relay team of Busscher, Butler, Gabrielse and sophomore
Kaylea Brase finishing third (4:05.11).
 
Both Calvin teams will now prepare for the upcoming MIAA Invitational
scheduled for this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trine University.
 
FIRST ROUND MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MIAA TOURNAMENT TICKET INFORMATION
 
The Calvin men's and women's basketball teams will host first round MIAA
Tournament games this week at Van Noord Arena. On Tuesday night, the Calvin
women's team will host a first round game against Kalamazoo at 7:30 p.m.
 
Tickets may be purchased in person at the Covenant Fine Arts Center box
office, by phone or online (www.calvin.edu/boxoffice) . Tickets will also be
available at the door. All seats are General Admission and are $5.00 general
addmission. MIAA students can obtain free General Admission tickets with their
student ID.
 
The Calvin men's basketball team will host a first round game Wednesday night
against Trine University at 7:30 p.m. at Van Noord Arena. Reserved tickets for
Wednesday’s game are on on sale at Calvin’s website (www.calvin.edu/boxoffice)
and will also be on sale at the Box Office on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,
February 21, 22 & 23 from 9:00am until 5:00pm.
 
Tickets will also be sold at the Arena starting at 6:30pm on Wednesday.General
Admission tickets are free for MIAA students with student ID. Reserved tickets
are $3.00 for any college faculty/staff and students, High School students and
children, and $7.00 for all others. Tickets must be paid by either cash or
check. There is no limit on the number of tickets to be purchased.
