Calvin Fall Sports Athletes Receive MIAA Player of the Week Accolades

VOLLEYBALL

For the second time in her collegiate career, Calvin College sophomore Lizzie
Kamp has been named MIAA Player of the Week in volleyball. A native of Orland
Park, Illinois, Kamp (Chicago Christian HS) had 32 kills for a hitting
percentage of .411 for the week as Calvin won three straight matches to
maintain its hold on first place in the MIAA.

In a key road matchup against Alma, Kamp had 13 kills and no errors in 26
attack attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, and added 14 digs and three
blocks to lead the Knights to a sweep of the Scots.

She followed with nine kills in a three-set win over Adrian and 10 kills in a
three-set win at Trine on Saturday. On the week, she was credited with 31 digs,
four blocks, two aces and two assists.

Calvin (15-2 overall, 10-0 MIAA) returns to action on Wednesday when it
travels to rival Hope for a 6:30 p.m. match.

Kamp is the fourth individual from Calvin to earn weekly player of the week
honors from the MIAA this fall as older sister Rebecca Kamp has been a two-time
MIAA Player of the Week, teammate Megan Rietema a two-time MIAA Specialty
Player of the Week and teammate Renee DeHaan the MIAA Player of the Week once.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

For the first time in her career, Calvin College senior Carly Prins has been
named MIAA Player of the Week in women’s soccer. A native of Hudsonville and a
graduate of Unity Christian High School, Prins scored three goals, the second
hat trick by a player in an MIAA game this season, as the Knights rolled to a
6-0 victory over Adrian Saturday.

On the year, Prins is leading Calvin in scoring with 11 points on the strength
of five goals and one assist.

Calvin returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Trine at 4 p.m. in a
conference match.

Calvin is currently 9-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in league play.
MEN'S SOCCER
For the first time in his career, Calvin College junior Justin Ahearne has
been named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week in men's soccer. Ahearne, a junior
from Hudsonville (Hudsonville HS) had a dominating week on both offense and
defense in leading Calvin to a pair of victories that propelled the Knights
into first place in the MIAA race.

He had one goal in a 2-0 victory over Alma, then in a Saturday game against
Albion, he scored three goals in the game’s first 13 minutes as the Knights
were victorious 7-0.
Calvin returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to Trine for a key
conference match slated to start at 4 p.m. Calvin is currently 10-1-1 overall
and 4-1-1 in league play, one point ahead of second place Adrian, Kalamazoo and
Trine.

Ahearne is the second individual from Calvin to earn weekly honors from the
