Jon Kuiper Takes Medalist Honors at Heidelberg Spring Collegiate Classic
Women's Tennis Defeats Trine / Men's Tennis Defeats Earlham
MEN'S GOLF
TIFFIN, OH - Calvin senior Jon Kuiper completed a sterling two days of
competition at the Heidelberg Spring Collegiate Classic on Friday with a round
of 74 that allowed him to finish with a two-day total of 147 strokes – just
three strokes over par. The two-day score was good for first place in the final
individual standings, allowing Kuiper to take home medalist honors at the
tournament held at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club.
Kuiper is playing in a series of spring tournaments in an attempt to qualify
individually for the NCAA III Men’s Golf Tournament. This past fall, Kuiper
took second in the final MIAA individual standings with an average of 74.0
strokes-per-round in eight league competitions.
Last weekend, Kuiper tied for 11th at the Muskingum Invitational with a
two-day total of 152 strokes (78-74).
Individuals that qualify for the NCAA III Men’s Golf Tournament are from teams
that did not qualify. As the MIAA champion this fall, Hope earned the league’s
automatic team bid to the NCAA III Men’s Golf Championships scheduled to be
held May 11-14 at the Hershey Links and Hershey Country Club in Hershey,
Pennsylvania.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Calvin 9, Trine 0
ANGOLA, IN – Calvin picked up its 10th victory of the season against only two
defeats on Friday as the Knights picked up a 9-0 conference victory at Trine
University.
Calvin (3-0 MIAA) won all six singles flights in straight sets and lost just
one game in doubles competition.
Calvin is back in action on April 7 when it travels to Saint Mary’s for a 4
p.m. conference match.

MEN’S TENNIS
Calvin 8, Earlham 1
RICHMOND, IN – Calvin improved to 6-4 on the year with an 8-1 non-conference
victory at Earlham College Friday afternoon. Calvin’s only defeat came at No. 1
singles with the Knights winning in straight sets in the remaining five singles
flights. Calvin also lost just three games combined in the three doubles
flights.
Calvin is back in action tomorrow when it takes on regionally-ranked Denison
and follows with a match against Wabash. Both matches will be played in
Crawfordsville, Indiana.
