Calvin Track and Field Athletes Receive All-MIAA Honors - Klingenberg and
Reasoner Named Most Valuable Field Event Performers/Calvin Track and Field
Athletes Compete at North Central Dr. Keeler Invitational

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD

A pair of Calvin College sophomores have been named the MIAA's Most
Outstanding Field Event Performers. Calvin College sophomore Joel Klingenberg
has been named the MIAA Men's Most Outstanding Field Event Performer while
Calvin College sophomore Sarah Reasoner has been named the MIAA Women's Most
Oustanding Field Event Performer.

Klingenberg originally hails from Hamilton, Ontario, but graduated from
Bradenton Christian High School in Florida. At the MIAA Field Day last Thursday
and Friday, Klingenberg captured the MIAA title in the javelin (184-0) and
placed second in the discus (146-6). Klingenberg is the fourth individual in
Calvin men's track and field history to receive the honor since the MIAA split
the Most Valuable Player award into a Most Outstanding Runner and Most
Outstanding Field Event Performer in 2001.

Meanwhile, Reasoner is the seventh individual in Calvin women's track and
field history to receive the award since 2001. A native of Cambridge,
Minnesota, Reasoner is a graduate of Cambridge-Isanti High School. At the MIAA
Field Day last week, she captured league titles in the shot put (41-8) and
discus (143-0), recording an NCAA III provisional qualifying mark in the discus
in the process.

Reasoner has also landed a spot on the All-MIAA track and field team for the
first time. She is one of 10 members of the Calvin women's track and field team
to receive All-MIAA honors. Also landing spots on the All-MIAA women's track
and field team from Calvin are seniors Julie Bratt, Ashley Glover and Lauren
Bergstrom, juniors Joy Leach and Heather Koning and Elizabeth Smit and
sophomores Jessica Koster, Rachel Boerner and Gretchen Braymer.

On the men’s side, Klingenberg is one of eight members of the Calvin men’s
track and field that were named to the All-MIAA men’s team. Joining
Klingenberg are seniors Nate DeHaan, Jed Christiansen and Erik Van Kampen,
junior Cory Velgersdyk and sophomores Alex Wrobel, Eric Michel and Ken
Echtinaw.

NORTH CENTRAL DR. KEELER INVITATIONAL DAY ONE RECAP

NAPERVILLE, IL – Competing in his hometown of Naperville, Calvin College
sophomore Eric Michel came up with the finest vault of his pole vault career
late Thursday night. The Naperville Central High School graduate soared over
the bar with an NCAA III provisional and career-best vault of 15-8 ¼.

Michel was part of a handful of Calvin athletes that turned in NCAA III
provisional qualifying marks Thursday night as senior Jed Christiansen
(Greenville, PA) won the men’s 5,000 meters with a provisional qualifying
time of 14:29.03. In the women’s 5,000 meters, sophomore Jessica Koster
(Grand Rapids Christian HS) had a provisional qualifying time of 17:32.45.

Action continues on Friday afternoon and evening.
