Men's Basketball Pegged as Pre-Season MIAA Favorite;
Women's Basketball Picked Second in MIAA Poll
Women's Cross Country Remains Top-Ranked Team - Men Ranked Fourth

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The MIAA pre-season coaches' polls in men's and women's basketball have been
released. On the men's side, Calvin has been pegged as the pre-season MIAA
favorite. On the women's side, Calvin has been picked to finish second.

In the men's poll, Calvin received five first place votes and finished just
one point ahead of two-time defending MIAA champion Hope which received three
first place votes. Albion was picked to finish third.

In the women's poll, defending MIAA champion Hope was picked first, receiving
six first place votes while Calvin received 2.5 first place votes to finish
second. Albion received one-half of a first place vote and finished third in
the poll.

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

The Calvin women's cross country team will head into next week's NCAA III
Great Lakes Regional meet as the nation's number-one ranked team. The Knights
are once again ranked number-one in the latest Division III Top-25 poll
released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association. Calvin received six first place votes in this week's poll with
Williams (MA) receiving two first place votes.

On the men's side, Calvin has moved up to fourth in this week's poll, up one
spot from last week's poll. Cortland State of New York remains the top-ranked
team. The Red Dragons received all eight first place votes in this week's poll.
North Central is ranked second and Wisconsin-Stevens Point ranked third.
