Volleyball Rolls To Win at Olivet – Ranked 16th in AVCA Div. III Poll;
Women’s Soccer Ranked 13th in NSCAA Division III Top 25 Poll;
Cross Country Teams Ranked Number-One in Great Lakes Region;
Calvin Graduate Signs Pro Hockey Contract

VOLLEYBALL

OLIVET – The nationally-ranked Calvin women’s volleyball team got back on the
winning track with a 25-7, 25-9, 25-16 victory at Olivet Tuesday night inside
the Cutler Events Center. Now ranked 16th in the most recent AVCA Division III
Top-25 poll, Calvin improves to 10-3 overall and to 4-1 in the MIAA. The
Knights are just behind 5-1 Alma with Hope leading the league standings at 7-0.

Calvin was led in the win over Olivet by freshman Rebecca Kamp (Orland Park,
IL/Chicago Christian HS) who posted 17 kills, seven block assists and an attack
percentage of .444. Freshman Erin VanderPlas (Cadillac/McBain Christian HS)
chipped in with six kills and one solo block.

Junior libero Kelsey Sears (Traverse City/Traverse City West HS) had 21 digs
while junior Katie Corbett (St. Joseph/Stevensville-Lakeshore HS) and senior
Stacie Lippert (St. Louis, MI/St. Louis HS) had 11 digs apiece.

Senior setter Lauren DeGroot (Tulare, CA/Valley Christian HS) had 17 assists
and sophomore setter Carolyn Nelson (Milan/Milan HS) 10 assists.

Calvin returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Adrian and Saint Mary’s in
an MIAA triangular at the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.

Calvin will face Saint Mary’s at 11:00 a.m. and Adrian at 3:00 p.m. Adrian and
Saint Mary’s will meet at 1:00 p.m.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

The women’s soccer team has moved up three spots in this week’s Division III
Top 25 poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The
Knights are ranked 13th in this week’s poll, up three spots from last week’s
poll.

Calvin returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Hope for a game
scheduled to begin at noon at the Buys Athletic Complex. The game will serve as
the MIAA opener for the Knights.

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY

The Calvin men’s and women’s cross country teams are both ranked number-one in
the latest set of Division III Great Lakes Regional rankings released this
afternoon.

Both Calvin cross country teams return to action on Friday when the compete at
an MIAA jamboree hosted by Saint Mary’s College.

CALVIN GRADUATE SIGNS PRO HOCKEY CONTRACT

Emery Lovse, a 2008 Calvin College graduate, has signed a professional hockey
contract with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey
League.

The Cottonmouths are located in Columbus, Georgia.

A native of Grand Rapids and a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School,
Lovse scored 17 goals and garnered 16 assists for a total of 33 points last
year from his forward spot on the Calvin club hockey team.

His efforts helped the Knights finish 17-16 overall and reach the ACHA Division
III National Tournament for the sixth consecutive year.

Over the last two seasons at Calvin, Lovse had recorded 56 points in 54 games.
