WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
This fall, Calvin senior Lauren DeGroot is completing a remarkable 10-year run of DeGroot sisters making a significant mark on the Calvin volleyball program. The run began in 1997 when oldest sister Alicia DeGroot earned a spot on the Calvin varsity and became a key back row player for the Knights over the next four years. In 2001, sister Kristin DeGroot earned a spot on the Calvin roster and became a key back row and front row player, eventually earning All-MIAA honors and establishing a Calvin single-season record for digs.
In 2005, youngest sister Lauren DeGroot earned a spot as a freshman on the Calvin varsity and immediately earned playing time in the back row. She later broke sister Kristin's Calvin single-season record for digs and in 2007, earned AVCA Division III honorable mention All-America honors.
This year will mark the final year of the 10-year run of DeGroot sisters with the Calvin volleyball program. Calvin sports information student assistant Chaz Amidon recently caught up with Lauren DeGroot and profiles her family legacy at Calvin.
