AKRON, OH -- After a rought outing in his first starting appearance for the
Akron Aeros two weeks ago, 2005 Calvin College graduate Jim Deters turned
things around in impressive fashion Saturday night. Receiving his second start
for the Aeros, Deters tossed 5.1 innings and allowed just one run in helping

pitching victory but lowered his earned run average with the Aeros to 5.06. In
the victory over Binghamton, Deters struck out two, walked one and scattered
five hits.

Also a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School, Deters has now appeared in
six games for the Aeros and is 0-1 with a 5.06 earned run average in 16 innings
of work. Deters has struck out nine batters and walked six. Four of his
appearances have come in relief. On June 24, Deters received his first-ever
start for the Aeros - a Double A affiliate of the Clevland Indians. Deters took
the loss in the June 24 outing, allowing six runs and 12 hits in a 7-1 loss to
the Bowie Baysox. He then came back to record a pair of solid relief
performances before receiving another start Saturday night.
