CALVIN SPORTS REPORT FOR MARCH 9, 2007 (PART ONE)

NCAA III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships Day Two Update

HOUSTON, TX -- The Calvin women's swimming and diving team continues to
perform well at the NCAA III Championships at the University of Houston.

In Friday's morning prelims, Calvin advanced two individuals and one relay
team to Friday's finals and advanced three other individuals to consolation
finals.

In the 200 freestyle, Calvin senior Becky Weima (Grand Rapids Christian HS)
clocked in with the fastest time of the morning, coming in with a season-best
time of 1:50.11. Junior Stephanie Duncan (Long Grove, IL) also advanced into
the consolation finals in the event, recording the 15th-best time of the
morning in 1:54.58.

In the 100 breaststroke, freshman Emily Roberts (DeKalb, IL) advanced to the
finals with a school record time of 1:05.10. Robert's time was the third-best
of the morning. Freshman Katie White (Grand Rapids Christian HS) just missed a
spot in the 100 breaststroke finals, clocking in with an initial time of
1:05.53 that was good for an eighth-place tie. White then lost a swim-off to
Jessica Conners of Kenyon to determin the final entrant into the finals. White
will instead swim in the consolation finals. White will be joined in the
consolation finals of the 100 breastststroke by senior Alex Wilson (Ellsworth,
OH) who had the 12th-best time of the morning, coming in at 1:06.00.

The biggest surprise of the morning for the Knights came in the 200 medley
relay. Seeded 14th heading into the morning, Calvin recorded the sixth-best
time of the prelims to advance to Friday's championship finals. Calvin's 200
medley relay team of sophomore Jordan Scott (Oakville, ON), Roberts, sophomore
Julie Wolfe (Westerville, OH) and junior Kat Vinson (Kaneohe, HI) recorded a
time of 1:48.19.

Vinson also competed in the 100 backstroke prelims on Friday but did not
advance, finishing 27th with a time of 1:01.02.

Also scheduled to compete for Calvin yet today are sophomore Erica Deur
(Holland Christian HS) on the three-meter diving board and Duncan, Weima,
freshman Laura Price (Warren, PA) and sophomore Cara VanWoerkom (Calvin
Christian HS) in the 800 freestyle relay. Calvin's 800 freestyle relay is
seeded sixth although there is no preliminary heat for the event.
