Men’s Golf Seventh at MIAA Outing #1

MEN’S GOLF

MARSHALL – After a sterling weekend performance at the Olivet College Lou Collins Classic, the Calvin men’s golf team came back to the pack at the first MIAA outing of the year. The Knights placed seventh in a field of eight teams at Thursday’s outing, hosted by Albion at the Medalist Golf Club.

Calvin came in with a team score of 329 strokes, 35 strokes behind first place Hope which came in with a total of 294.

Calvin’s top individual finisher was freshman Jon Kuiper (Grand Rapids Christian HS) who came through with a round of 77. Sophomore Brad Tindall (Vicksburg HS) was next with a round of 79. Freshman Aaron Hargett (Lake Odessa Lakewood HS) was Calvin’s third-best finisher, posting a score of 83 while seniors Tim VanVugt (Brookfield, WI) and Jeff TenBrink (Kalamazoo Christian HS) rounded out Calvin’s finishers with scores of 90 and 92.

Hope’s Tommy Yamoako and Nate Golomb shared medalist honors with rounds of 73.

Calvin’s next competition will come next Tuesday when the Knights compete at a league outing hosted by Olivet at the Bedford Valley Country Club.
